To give you a brief background of my life as an artist, let me start with my childhood. I was fortunate to have started my first art lesson as a seven year old in an after school program in Royal Oak, Michigan. My first endeavor was a painting of a clown in oils which my mother immediately framed. I continued to take art classes as a hobby through high school. Then at college at Eastern Michigan University, I got sidetracked and studied accounting.
Art seems to be such a part of me. How do I explain this? Whether I am looking at house plans, painting a wall scene, designing a table or designing jewelry, I seem to have a plan and an obsession. I love color and shapes and I’m so happy creating. Several years ago I began working with glass with a process called Lampwork beads.
Lampwork beads are beads specially made with a torch and colored rods of glass.
In combination with this, I have designed bracelets, ear rings, and necklaces using glass, semi precious stones and sterling silver. I like to envision my customers wearing this jewelry. It is my wish that each client will feel as special about their purchase as I feel about creating the pieces.
